Feeling a bit under the weather? Youtube life-hacker DaveHax has come out with a brilliant new video that's just in time for flu season. Cough medicine can be extremely expensive and it's usually filled with lots of chemicals that may cause side-effects. Instead, he shows us how to make our own cough sweets for getting through your illness. The ingredients you'll need (and what they're used for) are as follows:

Lemon juice - it's filled with Vitamin C
Honey -  it's a natural cough suppressant
Ginger - it relieves pain, and boosts the immune system
Cloves - they reduce phlegm, and are full of antioxidants
Sugar - for taste

Is it true that honey is a great way to suppress your coughs? The folks over at Mayo Clinic say it is. In fact, according to one study honey was found to be just as effective in stopping coughs as dextromethorphan - the main ingredient in Nyquil.

Watch the video below to get step-by-step instructions on how to make these sickness-fighting sweets. Have you tried making your own home remedies? Let us know about them in the comments below. If you love natural remedies as much as we do, make sure to share this video with your friends on Facebook! Stay healthy!
